During this first Workshop meeting, Concordia will solicit all concerned community members to participate in the Community Planning Committee (CPC). This invitation is not limited to families with school age children or to school personnel. All members of the community are invited to participate. Those who agree to become involved with the CPC should try to attend all four workshop meetings. The focus of the Workshop will be on the current learning resources in the community, both schools and other facilities.

This first half-day morning Workshop will be fast-moving as participants will use a mapping exercise involving large-sized "Google maps" of the District to locate their schools and homes. Ideas from the earlier Convening will be shared. Also, reports from the Project Team will be delivered in two parts. First, Sidewalk Studio will provide the results of its first District Survey. Second, Harley Ellis Devereaux will summarize its findings from the assessment of the physical condition of all school district owned facilities. CPC members will be divided into five subcommittees based around the school grade levels that interest them. Coffee, tea, and refreshments will be served throughout the morning.

An important result of the meeting will be to create a list of facility issues with respect to the goals of the 2002 Strategic Education Plan and its Seven Initiatives. Also, we will devise a list of potential community learning centers. Below please find a number of documents relating directly to this Workshop. Additional relevant documents may be found on the Convening Report page and on the Resources page.
